Today's post is brought to you by the God-fearing Ms. Laura. I pray you will all be blessed by reading her post today.
God often speaks to me through music. I have listened to ‘When Death Dies’ by Gungor (acoustic version) over and over and over again! But today, the lyrics really hit me. Adam’s original sin caused death to rule over all creation. (Romans 5:12) God’s sacrifice of his own flesh set right all the death Adam’s original sin caused and all the death our current and future sin cause. (Romans 8:3)
Likewise, holding on to sin (our own or others’) only paralyzes our spirit because Jesus took on our rightful punishment (Romans 5:9). There is no need to punish or condemn ourselves. Focusing on our sin only causes spiritual death. Focusing on God is where we truly live! (Romans 8:6)
When I sin, until I can forgive myself like God has forgiven me, my spirit withers and dies. The self-condemning thoughts compound and are like daggers to my spirit. The longer I let my spirit wither the more difficult it is to breathe life back into it. Allowing my sin to block God’s plan for my life is unacceptable. Only after I put to death the sin I commit can I truly live. (Romans 6:7)
