I have been blessed with the calling from God to serve in Kairos, a ecumenical Christian prison ministry. The purpose of the Kairos ministry is to help grow and nurture strong Christian communities within adult correctional institutions. The heart of Kairos is Agape, Christ's unconditional love, delivered to the residents through the Body of Christ.
There are a couple of ways for our readers to go into the Dayton Correctional Institution right along with me! The foundation of Kairos is prayer. You can sign up to pray on a prayer vigil while we are in DCI. If you would like to sign up on my prayer vigil click HERE (just type your name in the hour you would like to pray, it will save automatically). The name of each person who is praying will be placed on a strip of paper and made into a paper chain as a visual to the residents of the Body of Christ who is praying for them. Just imagine...40 team members, 75 prayer slots on each vigil...even if each team member only submits one vigil...that's a prayer chain with 3,000 strips!!
We ask that you pray for the residents, prison staff, and Kairos volunteers.
Another way for our readers to go into DCI with me is "green agape". The average total cost for a Kairos weekend is $5,000.00 for food, supplies, equipment, etc. The average cost per resident attending a weekend is $125.00. Any amount of green agape is welcome. If you would like to extend Christ's love in the form of green agape please email me directly at rlwaymire@hotmail.com and I will be happy to get you more information.
What a beautiful service bringing the love and grace of jesus to those in prison!
