Today's {Faith Challenge} topic is love. With Valentine's Day, the foo foo magenta and red balloons, and the candy overload behind us, I want to chat with you for a second about a real life, face to face, love that I have come to know through Coffee and Jesus.
If you have frequented this blog for a while, you have heard me mention "Coffee and Jesus" almost weekly. Many have asked, "what's this Coffee and Jesus you always talk about?" Let me try to explain it as best as I can. First, meet Katie:
Katie, who blogs :: HERE :: has an incredible testimony. From that, the idea of Coffee and Jesus was birthed. As the pieces fell together, an idea turned into a reality. Her direct obedience and trust in God has turned into quite the blessing and it has been a thrill ride to watch! Sooooo encouraging. Really.
What follows is my experience with Coffee and Jesus, which to me is a tangible picture of love.
I have seen first hand the love of God shine through the daughters he hand picked to be together in this group.
Women have stopped what they are doing to pray for other women.
Friends gather together to encourage, support, and help one another.
Truth and wisdom blossoms into changed behaviors and transformations.
Those that overflow pour freely into the empty cups.
Friendships have formed.
Lives have changed.
Hearts have been softened.
Marriages have been strengthened.
Wavering faith has become bold and confident faith.
I have seen that there are other women out there who don't want to settle for mediocrity in their walk with Christ, but want to change the world with the love of a God who views them as treasured and redeemed.
Why is any of this important? Why am I sharing this with you when the topic of today's challenge is love? Because I have been to so many women's groups and been burned. I have been talked about. I have been stabbed in the back and the front. Trusting women doesn't come easy for me, and honestly I had almost given up on finding a women's group that looked like what I have mentioned here. Thank God that I didn't! Really, I don't want you to either.
Don't give up. There are women out there craving the same friendship and fellowship you are. There are other women out there who have hearts for God, that will pour into you, will hold you accountable, will pray for you, and will encourage you in your faith. There are other women out there that love God with every fiber of their being that are just waiting to love you too! They do exist! I promise. Take a step of faith and don't give up on trying to find a small group, life group, or women's Bible study group. Pray about where God wants you.
Dear friends,
let us love one another,
for love comes from God.
Everyone who loves
has been born of God
and knows God.
